The Royal College of Nursing announced its decision after they blamed the British government for failing to act on helping the NHS and not increasing their minimum wage.

The last time the RCN striked was in December last year.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will not be striking this month but confirmed that they will strike on the 6th and 7th of February instead.

The strikes will be huge and full of fury after Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced a bill that would allow companies to sue or fire workers if they go on strike. This led to a new set of strikes for February.

In a press release, Pat Cullen, the head of the RCN, says that the government should be blamed for their management of the NHS.

Pat says, “The Government had the opportunity to end this dispute before Christmas but instead they have chosen to push nursing staff out into the cold again in January. I do not wish to prolong this dispute but the Prime Minister has left us with no choice."

According to research by London Economics, the salary of an experienced nurse had fallen by 20% since 2010.

A nurse from Gloucestershire (kept anonymous for her safety) said she wouldn't participate in this month's strikes but was waiting for news to join in February's strike.

"The trust I work for isn’t striking on these particular days." she says, "The RCN has put systems in place that not all trust strike at the same time."

The nurse did participate in last month's strikes.

It's a race against time for the British Government and the Royal College of Nursing to find common ground and reach an agreement.
