Picture this, you're driving in your vehicle to work, to meet a friend or to go somewhere. All of a sudden, a pothole damages your tyre and it's impacted your journey.
In Cheltenham, they're everywhere, mainly due to surface cracks, water and traffic. And it's true to say the majority of people living in the town are livid that not that much has been done to remove them and the fact it's ruining their days.
ITV West Reporter Ken Goodwin spotted that one of the repaired potholes was soon to be broken and warned people to drive slowly.
Unfortunately, it seems that no one bothered and the potholes returned.
On Bethesda Street, Klara Sudbury, former Mayor of Cheltenham, had this to say.
On the Cheltenham Noticeboard, the admin of the Facebook Group also agreed that the potholes have been a nuisance to the town.
"I've been driving on the roads to Cheltenham and still potholes are annoying me." The admin says while many people also agreed with the statement.
Fortunately, it does seem that work is being done to eliminate potholes. Gloucestershire County Council's Glos Roads account responded to a resident about the situation.
Back to Facebook, and someone found a funny side to the situation. It's already January and some people are already dreaming of a nice Summer holiday.
The entire town is fed up. Ken Goodwin asked people had asked people if they had spotted any potholes in Cheltenham. 131 people replied with numerous responses.
According to the AA, there were over 1.5 million potholes that were reported in the UK by 51 councils from 2018 to 2021. Sadly, it seems that the potholes are here to stay and it is up to the councils to see how these road devils can be stopped.
To conclude on a lighter side, AA's research shows Gloucestershire is not the worst impacted area for potholes. Northumberland is, with 180,000 reported potholes.
