When did Gen Z fall out of love with reading?

For most, there's nothing better than opening up a crisp new book, sitting down with a warm cup of tea in hand, nestled under a blanket or heavy duvet as they trace each bit of paper. Turning every page with excitement and questions, completely transported into the book's universe, with not a single thought but themselves and delving further into the words. Right? Well, apparently not anymore.

So, we asked on Angle News twitter page whether you think Gen Z have fallen out of love with reading. Here's what you've had to say:





























Many will say how the love for reading and literature starts at school. So what can schools do to encourage their students?


Ben Screech, lecturer in Primary English at the University of Gloucestershire says, "Classrooms need to be a language and literacy rich environment."


He added: "Stories and books need to have a really high status in the [classroom] environment itself. Children need to be exposed to all different styles of storytelling."
